Downtown Joplin Alliance to Host September’s Third Thursday Event, ‘Green & Gold’ on September 18

(Joplin, MO)Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) and Missouri Southern State University are partnering to turn Main Street green and gold during Third Thursday on September 18! Come enjoy an evening in downtown Joplin with over one hundred and twenty-five vendors, live music, and fun activities!

The evening’s events include:

  • Live music all night! The North Stage on the 200 block will have music presented by North Heights Porchfest! Enjoy performances from Nuance and Midwest Revival throughout the evening as they gear up for Joplin’s biggest celebration of live music. The South State on the 600 block will feature David A. Loving and The Fun Club.
  • MSSU is taking over the 400 and 500 blocks. The Lion Pride Marching Band will perform at 4th and Main Streets at 6:00 pm. More than 55 of the MSSU departments and clubs will have fun, interactive booths for visitors to engage with, including:
    • The Crime Scene Van will have demonstrations from the Justice Studies Department; the MSSU e-sports team will have an interactive booth; and the Health Sciences departments will have demonstrations and giveaways.
    • Roary will be downtown for photos during the event.
    • Visitors can purchase their own limited edition MSSU Heart Joplin Shirts, as well as other MSSU merch.
  • Eric Haun will be painting a new Heart Joplin mural live on The Runaround building.
  • Patio and on-street dining throughout the event, including at The Main Event, Vino Noir, and Club 609.
  • Vintage car cruise on the 100 block.
  • Artisan market on the 200 block.
  • Over 125 vendors, including more than 30 food and beverage options.

Lori Haun, executive director of the Downtown Joplin Alliance, states, “This is one of our favorite events of the year — MSSU is a vital part of our community and we love bringing them downtown each September!”
