(Neosho, MO) – Hunter Gilliam has been named the new head coach for men’s and women’s soccer at Crowder College.
“We’re excited to name Hunter Gilliam as our new head soccer coach,” stated Brandi Arthur, Athletic Director, Crowder College. “Hunter has been an important part of our program the past three years as an assistant and brings a wealth of experience from his own playing days in a championship culture. As a local with a deep understanding of our college and community, he’s the right person to continue building on our Roughrider tradition and carry forward the culture of excellence within our athletic department.”
Gilliam has served as the assistant coach for both teams since September 2022. As assistant coach, Gilliam was responsible for game strategy, film sessions, practice and game preparation. His playing career includes playing for the Springfield Demize after four years at Central Methodist University, Fayette, MO. At CMU, he was on the two-time national champion and two-time national semi-finalist teams.
Prior to college, Gilliam prepped at Neosho High School graduating in 2018. His honors included all-District, District MVP, All Central Ozark Conference, All-Region, and All-State player.
“I am honored to be named head coach of Crowder College”, stated Gilliam. “Having served as an assistant coach in both programs, I’ve come to deeply appreciate the values, culture, and potential at Crowder. I look forward to working with our student-athletes and staff as we continue to build our success on and off the field.”
Crowder College has had men’s soccer since 2008; women’s soccer since 2023. The Roughriders will scrimmage August 9, in a pre-season match up at Neosho County, 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm. The first regular season game is August 21 at home versus NEO A&M at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
