(Joplin, MO) – The Joplin Trails Coalition is pleased to announce that a contract has been awarded to Asbell Construction for the next phase of the Frisco Trail extension. This multi-phase project will expand the existing trail through the scenic Cardinal Valley Habitat, located north of Webb City.
Once completed, the partial extension will eventually connect Stadium Drive to Center Creek, enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities and access to natural areas. Asbell Construction will lead construction on the central portion of the trail, beginning near the wastewater treatment facility entrance on County Road 230 and ending at the north end of a nearby pond. This segment will span 0.9 miles.
The Joplin Trails Coalition envisions this extension as a key stop toward the long-term goal of connecting the Frisco Trail with the Ruby Jack Trail, creating a more unified and accessible trail network for the region.
“We’re excited to move forward with this project and grateful for the continued support that makes it possible,” said Bob Herbst, Project Manager of the Joplin Trails Coalition.
