Visit Joplin invites the community to the World Street Painting Festival, Route 66, which will be held June 4 through 7. On the final day, local artists of all ages and levels of experience are invited to create a community patchwork of chalk art. The festival is partly hosted by The World Street Painting Foundation of the Netherlands, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary as an organization, bringing talented artists together to inspire communities through creating 3D art.
Over three days, ten world-renowned street painting artists will create Route 66-themed 3D Street Paintings in Schifferdecker Park. They include:

- Ruben Poncia, The Netherlands
- Melina Berg, Germany
- Canaco Matsumoto, Japan
- Fabio Fedele, Italy
- Kerim Musanovic, Bosnia and Herzegovina
- Leon Keer, The Netherlands
- Roberto Carlos Trevino Rodriguez, Mexico
- Tracy Lee Stum, USA
- Jan Riggins, USA
The World Street Painting Festival, Route 66, is Joplin’s contribution to the Route 66 Centennial Celebration. The public is welcome to observe the artists throughout the three days of painting to see these works of 3D art come alive. The finished works will be officially revealed on Saturday, June 7, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
But the final project of the festival will need local inspiration.
To celebrate their milestone, artists from ages 3 to 99, experienced or inexperienced, are invited to add their talent to the street canvas by creating their own Route 66-themed chalk art. A Route 66-themed artwork could depict Route 66 landmarks, the open road, historic road signs, or its culture.
The best part is that, when completed, all the individual drawings form one large work of art. Chalk and drawing space will be provided. All you need is your inspiration!
