
(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) invites the community to “Be a Hero” at April’s Third Thursday on April 17, 2025. Join DJA’s sponsors, Vert’s Neighborhood Dispensary and Millwood Construction, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm to celebrate all the ways you can be a hero for someone.
The April sponsors will be filling up the 400 block of Main Street with all kinds of fun and festive activities this month, including:
- Vert’s Neighborhood Dispensary booths that will feature rounds of cornhole, opportunities to connect with adoptable pets via the Joplin Humane Society, and giveaways.
- Millwood Construction booths that will feature a variety of big giveaways as well as games with prizes. And the first 500 people who stop by get a free hot dog with chips! The first 200 kids that stop by the booth will receive a free birdhouse craft.
April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month and the Youth Volunteer Corp will have a special booth set up to sell Third Thursday shirts to benefit DJA. You can stop by and help support the organization by purchasing a shirt or kids between the ages of 11 and 18 can sign up for a variety of fun, fulfilling ways to give back to their community.
The evenings other events include:
- Live music all night on stages ranging rom the 200 Block to the 600 Block, which will feature Andrew Pommert, Little Green Men, and Drake May as well as a special performance by Analog Frog at 610 S. Main, brought to you by the soon-to-open House of Speed.
- Explore the inner workings of the Human Heart at the Schroeder Family Exploreum at 300 Main Street.
- More than 140 vendors, including 30 food trucks and food booths.
- Patio dining and on-street dining on the 100, 200, 500, and 600 blocks.
- A wine garden outside of Vino Noir at 528 S. Main Street.
- A master mixologist with craft cocktails at The Main Event, 611 S. Main Street.
- Vintage car cruise on the 100 block.
- An art walk on the 500 block
- A bounce house for kids
DJA encourages all attendees to wear their superhero outfits to stroll around downtown!
