Pirate School: Sea Dreams!
Sunday, April 6 | 2:00 pm (doors open at 1:30 pm) | Tickets: $16.90 for adults, $4.42 for kids | Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex
Pirate School: Sea Dreams! is a madcap, swashbuckling solo show created and performed by veteran New York actor David Engel. Set to an original, cartoon-inspired musical score, complete with sound effects, Pirate Professor Billy Bones teaches the finer points of lighthearted mischief and offers up zany lessons on how to stand, talk, sing, and laugh like a boisterous buccaneer, all while promoting good manners, polite behavior, and social courage.
This performance is part of the Ignite Series, which is made possible by Debra & David Humphreys.

Rats & People Motion Picture Orchestra
Saturday, April 12 | 4:00 pm | Tickets: $22.10–$27.30 | Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex
The Rats and People Motion Picture Orchestra (RPMPO) is St. Louis’ premiere silent film accompaniment ensemble. The group has been composing and performing original scores for classic films since 2007, and now offer dozens of programs from the legendary (e.g., Murnau’s Nosferatu) to the woefully underappreciated (e.g., Weber’s The Blot). The RPMPO seeks to help silent filmmakers’ voices persist by pairing carefully composed, live musical accompaniment that supports the filmmaker’s vision. For their visit to Joplin, the group will perform a double feature of Buster Keaton silent films: The High Sign (21 min) and Sherlock Jr. (45 min)
This performance is part of the Ignite Series, which is made possible by Sharon & Lance Beshore.

Shaun Johnson’s Big Band Experience
Saturday, April 26 | 7:00 pm (6:30 pm) | Tickets: $42.90–$48.10 | Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex
The Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience is a rare newcomer to traditional pop, fusing a big band spirit with an inventive edge, and garnering a top 5 Billboard spot with the release of their first album. Shaun, an Emmy award-winning crooner (and lead singer of the internationally known vocal group, Tonic Sol-fa) indelibly stamps vocal jazz and swing with a contemporary punch, to the delight of both traditionalists and newcomers, emerging as an original voice in the continuing tradition of the American vocalist. This performance is dedicated to the late Senator Ron Richard and funded by memorial gifts given in his memory.
This performance is part of the Curtains Up Series, which is made possible by Freeman Health System.
