Temporary Closure Begins Tuesday, October 15

The City of Joplin has begun beautification and intersection improvements at the 4th Street and Murphy Boulevard. Starting Tuesday, October 15, Murphy Boulevard will be closed from 4th to 5th Street for approximately one week. Drivers are asked to please use an alternate route.

This closure begins the roadwork needed for the improvement project which includes installing new traffic signals, turn lanes, intersection enhancements, sidewalks, and beautification elements in this area. Work on the storm system in this area will also be completed during the project.

The infrastructure project is funded through the Capital Improvement Sale Tax, and Use Tax revenues will be used for the beautification efforts. Sprouls Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the $1.7 million project.
