City of Joplin to Begin Intersection Improvement Project at Zora Street and Duquesne Road on September 9

Starting Monday, September 9, drivers will encounter the construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Zora Street and Duquesne Road/Hall Street. During the first phase of this project, Hall Street, north of the intersection, will be completely closed to through traffic. East/west traffic traveling on Zora St. and the southern leg on Duquesne Road will remain open. Detour routes will be posted. Truck traffic accessing the Joplin/Webb City Industrial Park will be detoured via Newman Road to Range Line Road or Highway 171 to Madison Street.

Closures and traffic patterns will change as the project progresses. The project is anticipated to be completed this winter. Please watch for updates.

The City of Joplin appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as this intersection is made safer and more efficient for traffic flow in the area. This project is funded by the Capital Improvement Sales Tax, which voters approved in 2014.
