(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance and Missouri American Water are partnering for the Downtown Waterfest during Third Thursday on July 18! Come and enjoy an evening in downtown Joplin with more than a hundred vendors, live music, and water features to help you cool off.
This evening’s events include:
- Live music from Paul Blakely, Speciosa, Gateway Collective, and Tough Love Chuck.
- Missouri American Water’s water truck, located on the 400 block, so you can stay hydrated! There will also be games for kids and an inflatable water spray arch to walk through.
- The Alliance of Southwest Missouri is bringing their foam cannons from SudStock!
- Many interactive water features for people and dogs to cool down in, including free splash pads and a water bounce house.
- STEAMagination Exploration with the Creative Learning Alliance at the new Schroeder Family Exploreum on the 300 block will have free, hands-on learning activities for kids!
- As a fundraiser for the Boys & Girls Club of SWMO, DTOM Technologies will host a “smash-a-thon” where participants and donors can smash electronics (printers, computers, copiers, etc.). Participants will sign a waiver, select their desired target and “smasher” of their choice (hammer, bat, golf club, etc.), and have a set time in which to smash the problematic electronic to smithereens!
- Patio and on-street dining up and down Main Street.
- Vintage car cruise on the 100 block.
- Artisan market on the 500 block.
- More than 100 vendors, including over 25 food and beverage options.
Lori Haun, executive director of the Downtown Joplin Alliance, states, “Summertime is a great time to get outdoors and come to downtown to visit friends new and old, all while shopping with our great vendors and grabbing food from our terrific food trucks.”
Third Thursday is held from 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm on the third Thursday of each month from March through October. Thanks to our Third Thursday Title Sponsors, KSNF-TV/KODE-TV, Zimmer Marketing, and Verts Neighborhood Dispensary for making this event possible.
Sponsors, volunteers and vendors are all being sought for the remaining events of the season. More information can be found on the Third Thursday Facebook page or on the Downtown Joplin Alliance website.
