Joplin Public Library is proud to partner with the Joplin Schools’ Nutritional Services department to provide free lunches to area children. The program began on Monday, July 1 and will end on Friday, August 16, 2024. Any child under 18 years old is eligible to receive a sack lunch. Lunches will be handed out Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 11:30 am in the vending area of the Library. They will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. All food must be eaten onsite.
“It is our pleasure to partner with Joplin Schools for a fourth summer,” said Joplin Public Library Director Jeana Gockey. “I hope that in addition to enjoying a free meal, families can take advantage of the Library’s free summer reading cards. One noteworthy part of the arrangement is that the meals are for all children, no matter where they live or go to school. This is a great complement to our Summer Reading Program, where anyone, no matter where they live, can get a Library card.”
The Library’s Summer Reading Program is a free program designed to keep all ages reading, learning, and adventuring during summer. Participants can earn free books and win prizes, plus, the Library is offering numerous special events for the public to enjoy. As part of the Summer Reading program, everyone qualifies for a free Library card with which they can access Library resources through July 21. Click here to find out more.
