(Joplin, MO) – Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) is accepting applications for new board members through July 15, 2024. Individuals who are downtown business or property owners, who have public safety, or who are of Hispanic/Latino background are especially encouraged to apply. The 13-member DJA Board is very involved in its events and activities year-round. DJA operates the Empire Market, Joplin’s only year-round farmers market, and the shared-use Newton Kitchen. It also organizes Joplin Arts Fest, the Downtown Lofts Tour, Third Thursday, Downtown Now, and many other special events. DJA works closely with existing small businesses and property owners in downtown and seeks out additional needed businesses for the district. Board members play a role in the beatification and promotion of downtown as well.

Since 1989, DJA has worked to fulfill its mission to revitalize downtown Joplin a a thriving, safe, and attractive center of art, history, enterprise, commerce, culture, residence, and entertainment. As an accredited member of Missouri Main Street connection and Main Street America, DJA is dedicated to economic development through historic preservation.
