Community Blood Center of the Ozarks to Host Great Gas Card Giveaway Blood Drive on May 24

(Joplin, MO) Community Blood Center of the Ozarks (CBCO), the sole supplier of blood, platelets, and plasma to patients at 45 area healthcare facilities is encouraging donors to give blood before the Memorial Day weekend at the Great Gas Card Giveaway Blood Drive.

The event takes place on Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks donor centers in Springfield and Joplin. Donors who give blood at one of CBCO Missouri donor centers will receive a mystery Casey’s gift card valued at $10, $25, $50, or even $100, while supplies last! Donors will also receive a custom Springfield Cardinals T-shirt and two free tickets to an upcoming Springfield Cardinals baseball game.

Donation hours for the Great Gas Card Giveaway Blood Drive are:

  • Joplin – Joplin Donor Center (101 N. Range line Rd.), 8:00 AM to 2:00 pm
  • Springfield – Thomson Donor Center (220 W Plainview Rd.), 8:00 AM to 6:00 pm

All donor centers will be closed Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day.

As CBCO kicks off summer, they face typical, seasonal challenges in meeting our area’s blood needs.

“Once summer activities ramp up, blood donation can sometimes take a back seat,” explained Michelle Teter, CBCO Media Relations Representative. “We are urging donors to please consider visiting your local CBCO donor center before the holiday weekend, donate blood to support local patients, and receive a small token of appreciation to fuel your own travels!”

Appointments are recommended to help minimize potential wait times at the donor centers. Donors can schedule an appointment here or call 417.227.5006.

On behalf of local hospital patients, CBCO thanks blood donors from across the region for giving life to your community.
