JLT Presents Promises, Promises
Join JLT for a scathing and hilarious satire of the corporate world in Promises, Promises. This exuberant musical adaptation of Billy Wilder’s Oscar-winning film “The Apartment” is set in New York City in the mid-60s and focuses on an ambitious accountant named Chuck Baxter, who works for a New York insurance company and climbs the corporate ladder by allowing the firm’s executives to use his midtown apartment for love affairs. Trouble occurs when Chuck discovers that the object of his own love, Fran Kubelik, is having rendezvous at his place with Chuck’s manager, J.D. Sheldrake.
The show will run from Wednesday, May 15 to Saturday, May 18 at 7:30 pm nightly with a Sunday matinee on May 19 at 2:30 pm. You can purchase tickets online here or by calling the box office at 417.623.3638.
2024 Children’s Theatre Workshop

A freshly printed book is ready to go out into the world. There’s only one problem: How will it find its audience? The new book decides the best thing would be to ask for advice. Week Two: JLT Survivor
Choose between two sessions: July 15 to 19 @ 8:30 am to 12:30 pm or 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm

JLT Announces Auditions for 2024–25 Opener Billy Elliot the Musical
JLT is excited to announce their 2024–2025 season opener, Billy Elliot the Musical. Directed by Carolyn McGowan and assistant director, Brianna Daniel, the performance will take place on August 7 to 10 at 7:30 pm nightly with a Sunday matinee on August 11 at 2:30 pm. The show features choreography by Angela Lowe and Melissa Holt-Nance as well as vocal music by Nick Kubicek and Matthew Holt.
Winner of ten Tony Awards (including Best Musical), Billy Elliot the Musical is a spectacular show with heart, humor, and passion and was named TIME Magazine’s Best Musical of the Decade!
Based on the international smash-hit film, and featuring a score by music legend Elton John, Billy Elliot is an astonishing theatrical experience that will stay with viewers forever. Set in a northern English mining town against the background of the 1984 miner’s strike, Billy Elliot is the inspirational story of a young boy’s journey as he stumbles out of the boxing ring into a ballet class where he discovers a passion for dance that inspires his family and community and changes his life forever.
With a powerful storyline, rousing songs and opportunities for sensational choreography, Billy Elliot is the perfect opportunity to feature dance programs in your area and let your talent shine! Auditions are from May 20 to 21 at 7:00 pm and will consist of cold readings from the script, a vocal portion of the finale and dance.
Please bring shoes that are suitable for dance (no tennis shoes or flip flops). To help prepare for auditions, please email Carolyn McGowan at carolynlmcgowan@yahoo.com for finale music, a list of characters with required vocal ranges, and dance level.
