(Joplin, MO) – The Creative Learning Alliance is your home for Solar-bration 2024 brought to you by The Flanagan Group-Keller Williams Elevate and EaglePicher! In Joplin, the 2024 eclipse will start at 12:34 pm, reach maximum eclipse at 1:52 pm and end at 3:10 pm. Visitors to the science center will learn the safest ways of viewing the sun and solar eclipses using shadows. Free glasses will be available. Weekend events include:

Friday, April 5 | 6:00 to 8:00 pm | Chaos Brewing, 112 S. Main Street in Joplin | Ages 21+
Join the Creative Learning Alliance for an evening at Chaos Brewing Co. as Dr. Rabindra R. Bajracharya, Ph.D. and Dr. Daniel Marsh, Ph.D., from the Missouri Southern State University Chemical & Physical Sciences Department present “The Wonders of the Moon.”
Pizza, pretzels, salad, and soda/water will be available as well as dessert and vegetarian options. Tickets are $50 per person when you purchase them online here or $75 the day of event. The ticket price covers food, fun educational activities, and a pint of Eclipse craft beer, which has been brewed just for this event.
Eclipse Activities
Saturday, April 6 | 9:00 am to 1:00 pm | Creative Learning Alliance | Open for all ages
Throughout the day, Creative Learning Alliance will host several fun and educational activities for the whole family. The schedule of events is as follows:
- 9:00 am – Wildcat Glades presents “How Eclipses Affect Animals.”
- 10:00 am – Jimmy Zangwow Storytime as well as moon crafts, moon pies, and RC Cola.
- 11:00 am – Moonbear Storytime and eclipse crafts and play area.
- 12:00 pm – George Washington Carver National Monument presents “Moon Night.”
There will also be more than ten educational stations that will offer activities that range from building your own eclipse viewing box and eclipse journals to UV bead bracelets, moon headbands, and much more!
Storytime and Eclipse Crafts
Sunday, April 7 | 1:00 to 4:00 pm | Joplin Public Library | Open for all ages
Join the Creative Learning Alliance at the Joplin Public Library for Moon Book storytime as well as chipboard moon phases. And if you can’t make it to the educational stations on April 6, this is your second chance to come make your own eclipse or create eclipse art!
Eclipse Viewing Party

It’s finally time for the eclipse!
Creative Learning Alliance will be hosting a Viewing Party beginning at noon. There will be free eclipse glasses; lots of educational booths and stations; food trucks including Holy Tacos, Driveway Diner, and Kona Ice; and even yoga!
