(Joplin, MO) – On Wednesday, December 20, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm, members of the surrounding area chambers are invited to attend a retirement reception honoring Annette Thurston, founding Executive Director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States. The reception will be a come-and-go event located at Ronald McDonald House of the Four States, at 3402 S. Jackson Avenue in Joplin, Missouri.
On September 19, 2023, Thurston publicly announced her retirement from RMHC, set for December 31, 2023. Her retirement will bring to a close a career of nearly 26 years of outstanding servant leadership, compassion and stewardship to the Charity’s mission of creating, finding and supporting programs that better the lives of children and families.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Four States has served our communities since 1996 through its mission, which is to create, find, and support programs that directly support the health and well-being of children and their families. That mission is executed through its cornerstone program, Ronald McDonald House, and the Ronald McDonald Family Room, located at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Our House provides temporary lodging for families of seriously ill children (ages 0-21) and ill expectant mothers, while our Family Room serves as a small oasis for families of pediatric patients just steps away from their child’s hospital room.
