Missouri Southern State University (MSSU) invites the community to join them for their annual Holiday Happenings event on campus on Friday, December 8!
The event will feature the traditional Southern Lights tree lighting on the campus Oval surrounded by buildings adorned in lights. Additionally, their will be a holiday Makers Market craft fair, Merry Mansion Tours of the alumni mansion, carriage rides, and much more. All of the festivities are listed below:
Maker’s Market
- To be held inside Billingsly Student Center Mall and Lion’s Den
- Open from 2:00 to 7:00 pm
Ice Skating Rink
- Located in The Pit parking lot by Kuhn Hall.
- Open from 2:00 to 7:00 pm
Food Trucks
- Food trucks will be located in the parking lot by Billingsly Student Center.
- Featured trucks include King’s Kettle, Nomad Brew, and Ghetto Tacos!
- Open from 2:00 to 7:00 pm
Photo Booth Frame
- Get a festive photo in front of MSSU’s Lion Statue on the Oval!
- Open from 2:00 to 8:00 pm
Live Reindeer
- Some of Santa’s helpers will be making a stop on campus! Come visit them on the Oval.
- Open from 4:00 to 8:00 pm
Nollaig Shona Cake Decorating
- In theme with the International Semester, come experience traditional Irish cake decorating on the Oval!
- Open from 5:00 to 7:00 pm
Carriage Rides
- Located on the Oval.
- Open from 5:00 to 8:00 pm
Merry Mansion Tours
- Get guided tours of the beautiful Ralph L. Gray Alumni Mansion and stop to visit and get a photo with Mrs. Claus! Carolers will also be on-site.
- Open from 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Southern Lights
- Join the campus community for this annual holiday tradition!
- Choir performance: 5:00 to 5:45 pm
- Tree lighting ceremony: 5:45 to 6:00 pm
- Band performance: 6:00 to 6:45 pm
Visits with Santa
- Come see the one-and-only Santa Claus on the Oval!
- Open from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
