(Joplin, MO) – The Alliance of Southwest Missouri’s Safe Kids Program needs help! Due to an increase in demand and a shortage of funds, the Alliance has run out of dollars to supply families in need with booster seats. That’s why The Alliance is kicking off its “Give Kids a Boost” campaign through the month of September.
According to Safe Kids Worldwide, car seats and boosters provide protection for infants and children in a crash, yet car crashes are a leading cause of death for children ages 1 to 13.
For families without funds to purchase a booster seat, the risk of child injury and death greatly increases.
The cost of a booster seat is about $30. The Alliance is calling on the community to consider donating toward this expense to supply families in need with this life-saving resource.
To help, please visit our website or donate directly here. This campaign corresponds well with National Safety Council’s National Child Passenger Safety Week which runs September 17 through September 23. The Alliance will be offering free car seat checks throughout that week.
