(Joplin, MO) – A graduation ceremony will be held Friday, June 23 for this Freeman Health System’s 2023 Residency Program pharmacist graduates – Grace Park and Tyler Specking.
The ceremony begins at 6:00 pm at Freeman Hospital West.
Over the past 12 months, the two graduating licensed pharmacists have gained real-world experience by providing high-quality pharmaceutical care while learning accountability for optimum drug therapy outcomes.
Although the program is a 12-month long commitment, it’s the equivalent of nearly five years of real-world experience, said Audrey Newcomb, PharmD, clinical pharmacist and residency program coordinator.
“They don’t have to do this program; they are licensed pharmacists — they can go get a job, but they want to be the best. In turn, we strive to build and support these growing practitioners to serve the world around them and to make it a better place.”
The program is admittedly difficult, requiring focus and dedication from the participating residents.
“They are here for learning and growth, but they in turn make us better,” Newcomb said. “We are extremely proud of our residents and take great pride in our program.”
Freeman’s Pharmacy Department, consisting of 30 pharmacists and 40 technicians, cares for all patients admitted to the hospital on a 24/7 basis, meeting their medication requirements.
