(Joplin, MO) – The Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) is kicking off 2023 with a new quarterly networking session called Downtown Now!. Downtown Now! events are for downtown business owners, residents, or just lovers of downtown to connect and to learn more about what’s happening in downtown.
The first session will be held at the beautiful new Harry M. Cornell Arts & Entertainment Complex from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. In addition to a look back at downtown in 2022 and what’s coming in 2023, Luke Gibson with Glenn Group Commercial Real Estate will present about the Joplin Union Depot and what steps are being taken to give it a brighter future. Light snacks and beverages will be provided in the lobby with networking time afterwards.
In addition to the Joplin Depot presentation, Mayor Doug Lawson will be recognizing Harold Berger, owner of Pearl Brothers True Value Hardware Company. The Berger family has owned the shop since 1949 and carried on the legacy lasting 117 years.
Lori Haun, executive director of the Downtown Joplin Alliance, states, “Downtown is all about community and this is a great opportunity for the community to learn more and make valuable connections whether someone is already downtown or just interested in getting involved.”
The event takes place Wednesday, January 11, 2023 from 5:00 to 6:30 pm at the Cornell Complex, 212 W 7th in Downtown Joplin.
