Joplin, MO – MOKAN Partnership and General Mills are teaming up with area chambers of commerce, the Workforce Investment Board, and Crowder College to host the Manufacturing Day Innovation & Opportunities Expo on Thursday, October 14. The Expo will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Newton County Fairgrounds, 700 Field Avenue in Neosho.
This event is part of a nationwide effort throughout the month of October to change the public’s perceptions about the modern manufacturing industry while drawing greater attention to the outstanding opportunities that careers in manufacturing can provide.
Seventeen regional manufacturers will be on site to provide live demonstrations, virtual reality experiences, and educational opportunities to 200+ high school students from across a ten-county area. These activities make it possible for manufacturers to highlight their operations and shape their own public image to ensure the prosperity of the entire industry by educating the future workforce.
“There is an increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector who can design, program, and operate technology,” says Amy Kauffman, Business Development Coordinator at MOKAN Partnership. “Whether high school students want to go to college or right to work, either way there is going to be a career for them in manufacturing.”
Sponsors for the event include General Mills, Schaeffler Group USA Inc., H.E. Williams, Inc., Heartland Pet Food Manufacturing, Land O’Lakes, Inc., Leggett & Platt, and Spire.
