(Joplin, MO) – With the appraisal process and right of way acquisition underway for the 32nd Street widening project, the City of Joplin is holding a meeting for area property owners to view the final design plans along with construction timelines and discuss utility relocations. Representatives of Olsson and Associates, the engineering/design consultant for the street improvements, as well as city engineering staff, will be available to discuss the project.
The meeting will be held from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 15 in the Parish Center of St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 3035 S. Central City Road.
The project will widen 32nd Street from Schifferdecker Avenue west to Central City Road. The design includes adding a center lane and constructing a sidewalk-shared use path, while acquiring adequate right of way for future expansion to a five-lane road. It is being funded through the 3/8 cent Capital Improvement Sales Tax approved by voters in 2014.
If citizens are unable to attend the meeting and would like to discuss the project, please contact one of the City staff members listed. Dan Johnson can be reached at 417.624.0820, ext. 538, or via email at djohnso1@joplinmo.org and Rob Beachner may be reached at ext. 543 or rbeachne@joplinmo.org.
