Wildcat Glades Friends Group Releases January 2022 Program List

(Joplin, MO) – Wildcat Glades Friends Group, along with other partners, will be hosting a hands-on preschool connections program, kids and adult yoga, a kids’ bird count, and a nature explorer’s event.

Children’s Christmas Bird Count

January 8 @ 10:00 am | Partnership Program | Shoal Creek Conservation Education Center

Join the Missouri Department of Conservation, Ozark Gateway Audubon Society, and the Wildcat Glades Friends Group for a morning of bird education, followed by a hike to count the birds we see.

Yoga in Nature for Adults

January 8 | 8:30 to 9:30 am | For ages 16+ | $10 to attend | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Led by Amanda, a registered yoga teacher, this class is designed to incorporate elements of nature, breathing, and yoga poses. Bring your yoga mat or a towel and a reusable water bottle. This is a great opportunity to help those who might be experiencing a little angst from being cooped up during these winter months.

Prints and Poop

January 22 | 11:00 am | Free Class for Nature Explorer’s (Ages 7 to 12) | Wildcat Glades Education Cottage

Have you ever been out for a walk and discovered a track or maybe some scat? Who left it there? How can we tell who has been here?

Join us to learn about the signs that animals leave behind. There is a lot to be said about an animal’s footprint and event their poop. We will meet inside the Wildcat Glades Education Cottage for a short portions of the class, then we will take a hike to explore the prints and poop on the Wildcat Trail.

Feed the Birds

What is that white thing in the middle of the field? A Snowy Owl has come to look for food!

We will learn all about where they come from and why they are here. Come enjoy a story, a song, and craft with us.
