Third Thursday Event to Resume After Pandemic Halt

(Joplin, MO) – After the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) recommendations of putting large events on hold last year, the Downtown Joplin Alliance (DJA) will host its first Third Thursday event of the season, which is set to take place later this week.

As we move forward into this season’s events, we continue to promote the safety and wellbeing of our community members. Attendees will be encouraged to wear masks through the entirety of the event and vendors will be spaced to allow for social distancing. DJA is committed to helping keep Joplin and its surrounding areas safe as we return to normal operations post COVID-19 pandemic.

We are anticipating 20 food trucks, outdoor dining from various downtown restaurants and Chaos Brewing. Live music will be provided by Dance Monkey Dance, the vintage car show will return to the 100 and 200 blocks, and dozens of artisans and businesses will be in attendance as well.

Lori Haun, executive director of DJA, states, “We are excited to welcome everyone back downtown and to celebrate a new year and a new season. It will be a great opportunity for folks in the community to visit some of our new businesses that have opened recently, and of course, get some outstanding food, listen to music, see some great art, and just enjoy being out and about.”

Sponsors, volunteers, and vendors are all being sought for the remaining events of the season.
