City Offices Closed, Council Meeting Shifts Due to Presidents’ Day Holiday

(Joplin, MO) – In recognition of Presidents’ Day on Monday, February 15, the City of Joplin’s offices will be closed that day, and the Joplin City Council’s regularly scheduled, third Monday meeting for February will be moved to Tuesday, February 16. The rescheduled meeting will begin at 6:00 pm and will be held in the Council Chambers on the fifth floor of City Hall, 602 S. Main Street. 

City Hall and other City services, including the Recycling Center, Sunshine Lamp Trolley, and MAPS system will be closed on President’s Day, February 15. Joplin City Hall and other City operations will reopen at their regular time on Tuesday, February 16.

Residential trash service and curbside recycling will not change due to this holiday. However, please watch for any notices of cancelations of this service due to weather. Early forecasts are predicting large snowfall amounts in our area.

KGCS-TV, Missouri Southern State University’s (MSSU) television station, will broadcast the meeting live on February 16, and will offer a rerun of the broadcast at 7:30 pm on Wednesday, February 17.

KGCS-TV is a service of the Department of Communication at MSSU. Programming may be seen over the air on digital channel 21 and on regional cable television systems, including Cable One, Mediacom, and Suddenlink.
